My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars. Goodreads says, " In love we find out who we want to be. In war we find out who we are.   But instead of a book, it was a work of art contained in a casket, an artificial nightingale made to look like a living one, and covered all over with diamonds, rubies, and sapphires. As soon as the artificial bird was wound up, it could sing like the real one, and could move its tail up and down, which sparkled with silver and gold.

After reading all the Nightingale books second world war Donna Douglas jumps forward to and the start of the 1st world war. A brilliant read where once again the Nightingale hospital brings to life the young nurses their hopes for the future I absolutely love the Nightingale Series. Book 10 delivered as all the others have.
